A Pole, wounded in the attack in Strasbourg, is dead

Yesterday we informed that the balance of people who died as a result of Tuesday's shooting in Strasbourg is still growing. Yesterday the number was 4, today we said goodbye to another one, a 36-year-old Pole, Bartosz Niedzielski. 

Shooting in Strasbourg

There was a shooting in Strasbourg on Tuesday 11 December. A 29-year-old man, Cherif Chekatt, a French national of Moroccan origin, opened fire on random people at the Christmas Market. The initial balance of people who died in the death march of the bomber was 3 people, 12 seriously injured people were hospitalized. Yesterday, the French prosecutor's office informed about another, fourth person who died in hospital as a result of injuries.

Today very sad news circulated in Poland. Bartosz Niedzielski, 36, is dead, a Pole who was shot in the head in the Tuesday shootout. According to witnesses, Bartosz, who noticed the bomber shooting at nearby people, attacked him to incapacitate him. It was reportedly at that moment that a 29-year-old man fired a shot at him. The Pole spent 5 days in a hospital in the intensive care unit, where he bravely fought for his life.

Information about the death of a Pole

Information about the death of Bartosz Niedzielski was provided by his brother Jakub Niedzielski. Today he wrote on Facebook: “My brother just left us. Thank you for your love and the strength you brought him. He will always watch over us and continue to bring us joy. Thank you all"

Ministry of Foreign Affairs

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs warns all Poles who want to travel to France to exercise extreme caution considering the high terrorist threat. Following the Strasbourg shooting, the authorities introduced Level 3 Counter-Terrorism Alert. This level is the highest possible.
