The Health Council says it has seen a significant increase in the number of infected young people and that this is new for the UK variant.

90 percent of those infected in Oslo are infected with the British variant, says Robert Steen, and continues:

"It infects a lot of younger people, and it's not something we were used to until January this year," says Steen.

– We have seen that we are now receiving reports of people born in the 90s being hospitalized. This means that people in their 20s are admitted to hospital, we haven't seen this before.

The Health Council says that those who are even younger, i.e., between the ages of 0 and 19, are now more susceptible to contracting the virus.

It relies on measures announced on Monday

W a further tightening in Oslo entered into force on Wednesday . These include, but are not limited to, fully digital learning in secondary schools, and for adults, as well as a ban on more than two visitors in private homes.

Steen does not say that crisis management is considering further tightening of restrictions schools in Oslo.

– The measures have been implemented since Wednesday, so this is the situation. Even though we announced it two days ago and it seems like forever since today they come into force, says Steen.
