Vaccinated Healthcare professionals may be released from quarantine during working hours in situations where it is essential to maintain treatment capacity. The change is made on the basis of the recommendations of the Norwegian Health Directorate and the National Institute of Public Health.

– The most important resource of the health and care service are its employees. The fact that medical staff are quarantined can pose a challenge in hospitals and municipalities. We now know that vaccinated people rarely transmit the infection to others. This also applies to people who have taken the first dose. We are therefore amending the regulations so that vaccinated medical personnel can be exempt from quarantine if it is necessary to maintain their medical capacity. This will make it easier to staff the services so that life and health were well taken care of possible way, says Minister of Health and Care Bent Høie.

Medical personnel must be quarantined in their spare time

An exception applies to medical personnel in the specialist health service and in the municipal health service and care in situations where it is necessary to maintain the healing capacity. Medical personnel must be quarantined in their spare time. The change is made on the basis of the recommendations of the Norwegian Health Directorate and the National Institute of Public Health. Their assessment is such that it will be justified.

At least three weeks after the first dose of vaccine and PCR testing on days 3 and 7

At least three weeks must elapse after the first dose of the vaccine. PCR testing is required on days 3 and 7 after the last exposure to infection. In general, vaccinated healthcare professionals may work while awaiting test results, unless they are working with particularly vulnerable groups of patients.
