Trolltunga - how is the route to Troll's Tongue?

Trolltunga-Troll Language is one of Norway's most recognizable tourist attractions. The tongue of the troll, as it is called, is a characteristic shaped rock suspended over the precipice, which is breathtaking. What is the route to the top and what do you need to be prepared for?

What does the trail look like?

- The duration of the entire trail depends on the starting point. From P1 it will be about 15 hours return, from P2 it is 8-12 hours, and from P3 it will be 7-10 hours;
- you can walk alone, without a guide, only between June 15 and September 15;
- the route is very demanding, it is not recommended for amateurs of trekking;
- you need to be prepared to meet changing weather phenomena - rain and snow can meet us closer to the summit.

Trolltunga-Troll's Tongue. How to get, where to stay?

Trolltunga is located on the border of the Hardangervidda plateau, 1100 meters above sea level. The best solution is to stay overnight in Odda or its surroundings - there are a few hotels and a camping site there. There are also many buses from Odda to Skjeggedal, where the climb to Trolltunga begins. However, if we want to travel by car, with Odda follow the road RV 13 to Tyssedal and then follow the road signposted to Skjeggedal.

Parking place

- P1 car park in Tyssedal - 40 kilometers both ways to Trolltunga The price of the car park is CZK 300 per day. There is a shuttle bus from there to points P2 and P3.
- P2 car park in Skjeggedal - 28 kilometers round trip to Trolltunga The parking price is CZK 500 per day. There is a shuttle bus from there to point P3.
- P3 car park in Mågelitopp - 20 kilometers round trip to Trolltunga. The parking price is CZK 600 per day.

Trolltunga-Troll's Tongue. advice

- Before going climbing, it is worth checking the weather forecast. In case of unfavorable weather conditions, we can be turned back on the route by guides who ensure the safety of tourists.
- If we go to the summit in the middle of the season, we have to be prepared for the photo queue at Trolltunga - it can take up to 40 minutes.
- Stock up on a sufficient amount of provisions, but pay attention not to overload the backpack.
