The government will establish the right to work full-time and make it difficult for companies to hire people in part-time positions.

- Full-time employment should be the guiding principle in Norwegian working life, and if employers want to hire part-time instead of full-time, the need for this should be documented and discussed with shop stewards, says Labor and Social Inclusion Minister Hadia Tajik in a press release.

It also provides that part-time workers will have a preferential right to additional shifts.

The proposal was sent for consultation on Monday and is part of the Labor Party's 100-day plan with 40 promises to voters.

Currently, according to the Norwegian office statistical , 25 percent of those working in Norway work part-time. Most of them are women.
