The information that there was fire in one of the metro cars reached the Fire Department at 3:20. Oslo police said that everyone had evacuated and that, fortunately, no one was injured. Unfortunately, the firefighters informed about the still very serious stream of fire and heavy smoke occurring in the vicinity of the metro, and visible over the Helsfyr. It turned out that the fire was gone, and the Fire Department could afford to enter the subway. At exactly 8:30 am, the official news was released that the fire had been extinguished and that the smoke had stopped.
Suspension of traffic
The Monday fire is a serious accident that will stop traffic around the tunnel. Today after 5:00 am, Sporveien tweeted that subway traffic between Brynseng and Tøyen has stopped. Special buses have been placed on this section of the road. Update: The metro has been restored on the section indicated.
