The 84th Plebiscite of Przegląd Sportowy and Polsat is behind us. This year, Bartosz Kurek became the best athlete of the year!

Bartosz Kurek is the best athlete of the year!

It was Bartosz Kurek who, overtaking Kamil Stoch and Michał Kubiak, became the best athlete of 2018! Last year belonged to the volleyball player. The attacker of the Polish national team received the MVP title this year world championship, but he was also chosen the best volleyball player in Europe 2018! We all probably remember his tournament of a lifetime in Italy and Bulgaria, when he led our team to victory.

"The golden team is for you!"

When Bartosz Kurek received the award for the best athlete of the year, he said “I would be a naïve and a fool to think that this is a reward only for me. Gentlemen, golden team, this is for you! Thank you for what you are doing on the pitch. Kamil, you are God, and I just jumped in here for a moment. I hope that in Tokyo the same group will do something great and we will be able to meet again here ". It was a special moment, because in fact, representatives of team sports are very rarely selected in the poll. So far only Zbigniew Bońek and Robert Lewandowski have succeeded.

Kamil Stoch and his second place

Although Kamil Stoch achieved many successes in 2018, this year, in the 84th Plebiscite Przegląd Sportowy and Polsat had to settle for second place. The jumper could not collect the award in person, so his wife Ewa Bilan-Stoch did it on his behalf. 

The podium belonged to volleyball players

This year, the podium definitely belonged to volleyball players. The third place, still on the podium, belonged to Michał Kubiak. Last year, the athlete led the volleyball team to the gold medal in the world championship. Unfortunately, the volleyball player could not collect the award personally, which is why Krzysztof Ignaczak did it for him.

Athletes rule!

Although on the podium we will not find any name that would belong to an athlete, there were 4 of them in the top ten! Last year's world championship in Berlin meant that our representatives brought many medals, and these contributed to numerous nominations.
