Snow weather has caught up with Norway. Numerous snowfalls lead to very difficult road situations. The first day after the weekend for the Norwegians was not too optimistic, numerous problems in road traffic occur practically all over the country.

Lots of snowfall

Norway has been hit by a real, cold winter, which would not be a bad thing if it had not been for the problems in road traffic. The Lofoten commune is struggling with numerous snowfalls from the very morning, which, according to the Meteorological Institute, are to disappear by evening. In municipalities such as Flakstad, Lofoten and Vestvågøy, many roads were closed on Monday morning. Reason? Very high avalanche risk. Only on Tuesday morning will the road services decide to close or open them further.

Avalanche at Ballstad in Vestvågøy

The incident took place in Ballstad in Vestvågøy. It was there that a 100 m wide snow avalanche fell. Fortunately, the landslide finally stopped before it reached the settlement. Nordland Police informed the media that nobody was hurt as a result of the whole situation.

Numerous traffic problems

Winter and heavy snowfall surprised Norwegian drivers, as well as road services. There have been numerous road accidents on the roads in the last few days. IN Heggedalsveien in Asker, the bus landed in a ditch after a slippery road had caused it to skid. Fortunately, no one was injured as a result of the incident. Seven vehicles collided with each other on Highway 2 in Elverum. As a result of the incident, as reported by the police, only one person was taken to a nearby hospital. Meteorologists predict that residents of Adger and Telemark can again expect numerous snowfalls on Thursday.
