A few days ago, the guest of Radio Wataha's studio was Adam Puscion, a graduate of the Gdynia Maritime School. A man who has been associated with the sea and ships for many years and has a great love for his passion. He visited many places on the world map, and a few days ago he told Łukasz about it.

Operation Sail 1974

In 1974, for the first time in Poland, in Gdynia, a regatta was held, commonly referred to by many as Operation Sail. For Adam Puscion it was the first regatta he had the pleasure to participate in, he was then a student of the maritime school. In an interview with Łukasz, he told that the route of the sailing ship ran between Gdynia and Southamptopn, where the entire crew had the opportunity to go ashore and get to know each other. The interlocutor recalls that at the time when the world was divided between the East and the West, there was no such thing as a division in that place. Every sailor, regardless of his religion or religious views, was equal to himself, and the sea was a brotherhood of the sailor.

200th anniversary of the USA

The year 1976 brought our interlocutor participation in another regatta, the main purpose of which was to celebrate the 200th anniversary of the United States. As a result of Adam Puscion's presence at the event, he had the opportunity to take part in the sailing ship parade on the Hudson River in New York. The presence of the then US president, Gerald Ford, who had the pleasure to receive the entire parade, was a big plus of the whole event.

Fredrikstad 2005

The history of tall ship rallies dates back to 1938, when this type of event took place for the first time. It took place in Sweden, and 20 ships from Denmark, Poland, Germany, Sweden, Norway, Finland and Estonia took part in it. It cannot be denied that this event was a precursor of this type of rally, but as a result of WWII, they were suspended until the 50s. Poland began to take part in the sailing ship rallies again in 1972. In turn, in 2005, the first such event took place in Fredrikstad, during which Adam Puscion was a volunteer.

The fraternization of the sea crew

During the conversation, Adam mentioned a phenomenal event that will take place on July 11-14 this year. These will be a regatta in which anyone aged 15-25 can take part. The cost of participation is only NOK 3, and the rest is covered by the organizers. The regatta takes place in three directions as it starts in Denmark and the first stop is Fredrikstad, then Bergen and return to end the event again in Denmark in Aarhus. To date, 500 ships have announced their participation in the event. Adam Puscion warmly encourages you to take part in the event because it provides an unforgettable experience, filled with a great, friendly atmosphere.
