Yesterday, February 24, at the Dolby Theater in Hollywood, the 91st Academy Awards were held. The film Cold War, directed by Paweł Pawlikowski, did not receive an Oscar despite three nominations.
Unfortunately, despite three nominations received by the Cold War, it was not possible to win an Oscar. It was the most important and exciting night for world cinema! The red carpet, splendor and the most important: the golden statuette of the Film Academy. Tonight we kept our fingers crossed for Polish filmmakers: nominations were received by Paweł Pawlikowski, Łukasz Żal and the film "Cold War".
However, the Oscars were awarded not to those we would like to see with them.

For pictures
Not Łukasz Żal, but Alfonso Cuaron received a statuette for photos taken for his own film. This situation is the first of its kind in the history of the Film Academy when a director is awarded an Oscar for cinematography.

For the best foreign language film
Best Foreign Language Film was "Roma". The recipient of the award again was Alfonso Cuaron.
The Oscar for Best Director also goes to Alfonso Cuarona and thus ultimately destroys the dream of our Polish director Paweł Pawlikowski winning an award.
