It appeared to be an inconspicuous summons. In the beginning, it was only supposed to be the support of medical services. They were to check the condition of the attacker, his physical condition. With time, however, the situation became more serious and the officers' action turned out to be inevitable. Several hours of intense negotiations passed - suddenly the man attacked the policemen with a chainsaw. The policemen started shooting. The attacker died at the scene. The policemen did everything they could to avoid being brought to an end. It turned out, however, that the man had a saw and a machete. Now, however, the prosecutor's office will carefully examine whether the policemen certainly acted in accordance with the law and whether the use of weapons was a necessity.
Action with firearms - a rarity in Norway!
Before firearms were used, the police used a stun gun. She wanted this move to motivate the man to surrender. This one, however, turned out to be adamant. The attacker died on the spot, one of the policemen involved in the action suffered from serious head injuries. Such action is not part of everyday life in Norwegian criminology. Norwegian police do not need to use firearms for clothing. Police statistics confirm this. In the last 17 years, policemen have killed only 5 people with a fatal result. Yesterday's incident was very difficult and demanding - we can only hope that it will not happen again soon.
