Poles in Norway - every year there are more and more of us in the "land of fjords". We come from different parts of Poland - from the sea to the mountains. We are looking for a better today and tomorrow in Scandinavia. We believe that a new job will be the beginning of a new, better life - for us and our entire family. We live here, we live here - we have friends and acquaintances (including Norwegians and representatives of other nationalities), we work and develop our passions.

There are more and more of us….

People often come back from emigration - there are more and more of us here in Norway. It's worth taking a closer look at the statistics. 95 Poles officially live in Norway (January 700, 1.01.2016), which constitutes 1,83% of the total population. Isn't it impressive? We are currently the largest group among immigrants. We create extraordinary games - we share our knowledge, experience and skills with others.

Poles in Norway - let's go back

The first ones Poles in Norway They appeared immediately after the November Uprising (1830-1831). We were present at many important historical events in this country.

During World War II, Polish soldiers fought in the Battle of Narvik in 1940. It is worth mentioning that 185 people died in combat Poles and almost 200 were injured. Distinguished soldiers were buried at the cemetery in Ankenes near Narvik. Poles also took part in the fighting in Oslo and surroundings. In Vestre Gravlund cemetery 12 pilots, 2 prisoners of war and 22 Polish citizens cooperating with the Norwegian resistance movement were buried. In the 80s century, the first Poles emigrated in the period "Solidarity" activities in our country. The biggest boom in economic emigration took place at the turn of the 20th and 21st centuries.

Poles in Norway - we are amazing ...

For a long time, we have been running the "Poles are extraordinary" series on our website - we present interesting and inspiring stories. We have incredible passions, to which we often devote ourselves 100% and infect others with them. Among us there are enthusiasts of automotive experiences and motor trips to the fjords - especially extreme conditions. For the duration of operation Wataha radio we had amazing conversations with sailor enthusiasts, wrestling coaches, lecturers and teachers who give their hearts to their students and physiotherapists. Some of us have opened their own businesses here in the field of tourism, hotel management or the above-mentioned medicine and physiotherapy.
