From October 12, the government will relax a number of harsh domestic measures regarding the coronavirus.

  • Possibility to organize outdoor events for up to 600 people
  • The lifting of the national restrictions on the sale of alcohol in bars is lifted at 00:00
  • Opening for amateur sports for adults

This is a new stage in our strategy, says Prime Minister Erna Solberg at the government's press conference.

October 12 is the start date for the first re-opening phase so that municipalities have time to prepare.

- The plan is that you can start operating throughout the country, but where epidemics break out, you need to assess the situation locally - says Minister of Culture Abid Raja during the opening for mass sport. The Minister of Culture announced that the second phase of the re-opening of the sport would be considered in November after watching the first phase of the re-opening.

At the same time, national bar restrictions will be lifted at 00:00. In addition, there is consent to open-air events with the participation of up to 600 people. Inside, the limit is still 200 people.

- Seats and organizers must provide at least one meter or one free space between people. Of course, people or families can sit side by side, says Minister of Health Bent Høie.

Local measures a prerequisite for re-opening

However, when it opens, the necessary condition is to limit local outbreaks and local commune to take quick and effective measures - both the minister of health and the prime minister emphasize:

- Now it is Oslo, Øygarden and Arendal that must act. Fast and effective action at local level is a prerequisite for us to gradually ease these measures, says Solberg.

Since the last Monday press conference, many municipalities around Oslo have discussed and eventually decided to introduce similar measures or recommendations as in the capital, including the use of bandages on public transport.

Health Director: Europe is in the second phase of a pandemic

"Compared to almost all other countries, the situation is less serious," said Health Director Bjørn Guldvog at a press conference.

It points to over 33 million people infected and over a million deaths as a result of the pandemic worldwide.

- Europe is at full speed in the so-called second wave. Virtually the entire map of Europe is red, with the exception of some regions. In Moscow, schools are now closed for two weeks after they have seen an infection peak in the last 24 hours, he says.

NIPH will take care of measures against immigrants

Line Vold says FHI still believes the infection situation in Norway is low. Last week, a total of 15 outbreaks were observed in various municipalities, while the majority were in Oslo.

- The outbreaks were associated with tourism, private events, restaurants, shops, schools, kindergartens. And various health services, writes the FHI in a recently published weekly report.

Work is underway to implement several measures targeting immigrants. Of all confirmed cases by origin (13579), 31%, 4159 people, were of a different nationality than Norway.

Cases are broken down by country of birth: Somalia (543), Pakistan (341), Iraq (332), Poland (217), Afghanistan (213), Sweden (168), Philippines (162), Iran (141), Turkey (126 )) and Russia (106).
