Thousands of Poles oppose the restrictions on the Crown and take to the streets to demonstrate against further tightening of the country's strict abortion laws. This is also the case in Norway, including Oslo.

This is happening after the constitutional court in Poland ruled on Thursday that abortion is forbidden, even if it has been proven that the fetus is seriously ill.

This legal provision is the basis of almost all abortions in the country today. In practice, this means that abortion is completely banned in Poland, which is a Catholic country known for having one of the strictest European abortion laws.

In Poland, abortion is generally forbidden, but an exception can be made in two cases:

  • If a woman's life or health is at risk.
  • If the woman has been the victim of rape or incest.

BUT: All health care workers still have the right to refuse an abortion if it is contrary to their own beliefs. In strictly Catholic Poland, doctors very often do not want to perform the procedure.

.

The President of the Republic of Poland supports the decision to tighten abortion rights.

The ruling PiS party has ruled Poland since 2015. The party has close ties to the Catholic Church and also stands for conservative values. They have been fighting for a long time to tighten the abortion law.

In Poland, demonstrations last the fourth day, and the atmosphere is very tense. However, this demonstration is spreading to other countries, including today on Sunday, October 25.10.2020, XNUMX Oslo. See photo reports provided by ours Polish diaspora.

As it turns out, there is huge support not only in Oslo. We have also received information from Trondheim, which also expresses solidarity with the manifestos in Poland.
