2021 is the United Nations' international year for fruit and vegetables. FAO, the United Nations Agriculture and Food Organization, will direct the work in cooperation with other relevant organizations in the UN system.
Celebrating the International Year of Fruit and Vegetables is a unique opportunity to highlight the important role of fruit and vegetables in nutrition, food security and health, and to contribute to the achievement of the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals.
Agricultural contract
- The UN and FAO are now paying attention to a very important area of international agricultural production. I am glad that this year we have entered into an agricultural agreement that is helping to secure our food production. The agreement gives priority to areas such as cereal, fruit and vegetable production, while enhancing the climate and protecting the environment. . Green sector in Norway until 2035
A commission made up of major environmental players, contractors and administrations reported on the 'green sector' by 2035. In March 2020, the commission was appointed for the 2019 agricultural settlement and was mandated to present a long-term plan for to strengthen innovation in agriculture, growth and increase the market share of Norwegian organic products.
Barriers and opportunities
The report points to the barriers and opportunities for growth and development of the "green sector". The Commission is making six recommendations for the way forward for the sector. The recommendations indicate, inter alia, the matter of increased demand measures, product development, season extension and the public sector as a buyer. In addition, activities related to the development of sustainable development are indicated as a competitive advantage, strengthening the production economy, recruitment and work.
