On the afternoon of January 26, 2021, a suspected mutant coronavirus infection was detected in the Frogn municipality. The case, which has been positively confirmed today, can be directly linked to the Langhus residential and service center. This sample was submitted to FHI, but there is reason to believe that this case is mutant variant from Great Britain, which is much more contagious.
Let's stop the virus from spreading
Therefore, please sign up for the tests in your municipality of residence
- passengers on the 500 Drøbak - Oslo / Oslo - Drøbak bus at certain times (see below)
- customers in various shops / restaurants at certain times (see below).
We ask that people who suspect that they have moved / stayed in these places at that time should be quarantined and report for testing as soon as possible. Passengers on the same bus route during periods similar to those listed are asked to report to the examination if symptoms occur.
The source of the mutation
- The person who was tested obtained a positive result. Information from the trace of the infection means we have good reason to believe that this is a mutant variant of the virus that was detected in Nordre Follo. Therefore, hoping to get any infection under control, we want to make it clear that potential infected people should sign up for the tests, says chief city doctor Merete N. Hvistendahl. She emphasizes that the work of monitoring all direct close contacts has come a long way, but it is desirable to extend testing to catch anyone who has been close enough to an infected person whenever possible. The head of the commune emphasizes that this variant of the virus is no longer dangerous to the individual, but is more contagious. Therefore, we want to get control of the possible spread of this virus as soon as possible.
We ask the following people to sign up for the tests in their municipality of residence:

The municipality had previously submitted six tests for testing mutant viruses. Three of them have been confirmed as negative and three are not ready yet.
Two new cases have been confirmed in the municipality today. One case is a close contact who has been in quarantine and is currently undergoing isolation. The second case can therefore be directly related to the Langhus housing and service center.
Thus, the Frogn kommune has recorded 162 confirmed pandemic cases so far and 46 so far in January. This is a total of 220 cases per 100 inhabitants in the last 000 days. In four out of 14 cases, no possible source of infection was found in the past 35 days. In other words, we still have an upward trend in our commune. Currently, 14 people are isolated in their own homes and around 18 are quarantined.
