Lower prices for ferry crossings in Norway

Opposition parties agreed to lower ferry prices. They will present on Tuesday a joint proposal to reduce the prices of ferries in the Storting.

Here is the suggestion:

“The Storting is asking the government to return to the revised national budget for 2021. With proposals to cut ferry charges already for this year and a binding plan to halve ferry prices on both national and county roads. The priority is a solution that applies to lower tariffs for commuters, and the reduction will be financed by the state ”.

The proposal will be voted on Tuesday, February 23.02.2021, XNUMX, as the government's latest crisis package is being considered.

Parties want a majority and gain support in the Storting.

FRP transport policy spokesman Bådrd Hoksrud. The Progress Party tried to get other opposition parties to commit to the 1,5 allocation proposal billion Norwegian kroner to be halved ferry prices.

At present, it is impossible to predict when ferry prices will actually be lowered.

"We hope it won't take too long, but it's impossible to say exactly when it will happen."

"We're talking big money here, so we can't just snap our fingers." We are talking about both provincial and municipal ferries. Now it is important to put in place a system to ensure that we can do it the right way, replies Myrli.
