The Norwegian Police expect travelers to be more active during Easter and remind everyone to read the applicable regulations before embarking on a journey. Travelers must be prepared for longer than usual checks on entry after a trip abroad.

Entry control at the Norwegian border
The development of the infection situation is unpredictable, and more recently, after arriving from overseas travel, stricter regulations have been introduced to prevent infections imported. Police ask for your understanding that crews at border crossing points in the country will enforce a comprehensive and complex set of rules.
- The role of the police is to exercise border control and help limit the spread of infection in the country. Travelers need to be prepared for the occasional queues and longer waiting times to be able to carry out the necessary checks at the country's border crossing points, explains Rise.
What is the police approach?
The police are constantly working with crews at the border to ensure that they comply with the regulations in force at the time and are constantly looking for opportunities to improve, strengthen or change practices for the better.
The basic principle for the police is to give advice and guidance before issuing an order or ultimately using force or prosecuting. However, there should be no doubt that infraction control violations will be tracked.
- We perfectly understand that it is demanding, tiring and sometimes frustrating. At the same time, it must be remembered that the country is in a demanding situation that makes everyday life unpredictable and difficult for everyone. Having said that, we in the police force must of course do everything we can to keep the burden on travelers as low as possible, emphasizes Rise.

At uncertain times, many people turn to the police when they experience that prevention recommendations are not being followed or laws are not being followed. We would like to remind you that each person is responsible for avoiding unnecessary travel, as well as for distancing aid and other general infection control advice.
- The police are prepared to take action when the situation requires it. At the same time, adhering to measures to limit the spread of infection is a social responsibility everyone must assume.
