Someone claims that there is something wrong with the residence permit and asks you to transfer a certain amount of money

Fake calls from the Norwegian Ministry of Foreign Affairs.

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs has received several reports of fraudulent calls from the ministry's telephone number +47 23 95 00 00. Someone calling pretends to be its representative. He then claims there is something wrong with the person's residence permit and asks for a certain amount of money to be transferred to solve the problem.

Ministry Foreign Affairs notified its telephone service provider, Telenor, of the fraudulent calls. We are in constant contact with the police regarding further actions.

Anyone who receives such calls should report it to the police and refrain from transferring any money

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs encourages anyone who receives such calls to report it to the police. Also notify your telephone operator and do not transfer any sums of money. Remember that Norway never asks for money for this type of service. Questions regarding residence permits should be addressed to the Norwegian Directorate of Immigration (UDI).
