Following industry suggestions, the government is now proposing a new requirement for a distance of four meters between all units camping in campsites, says Nikolai Astrup, Minister of Local Government and Modernization.
Consultations on the new regulations will be carried out in 2021
To strengthen fire safety, the ministry is working on regulatory requirements for dividing campsites into plots and designating fire zones. At the same time, the ministry provides the definition of a camping unit. The introduction of the regulations assumes the adoption of a new basis by the Parliament legal in the Act on planning and construction. Consultations on regulatory requirements will be conducted in 2021.
- The new rules will be easy to follow and will make campsites more "fireproof". Thanks to even clearer regulations from the local fire department, it will be easier to supervise campsites, says Astrup.

Camping companies get more predictability in advance planning and that simpler regulations are introduced which in practice ensure the greatest possible degree of equal treatment for everyone in the industry, says Jan-Henrik Larsen, campsite manager, NHO Reiseliv.
