In Norway, 2021 companies have so far received a total of around NOK 420 million in 400. They were allocated to various restructuring projects. This means they can adapt to infection control measures and changes in the tourism market in the current context.
The money went to restructuring projects that allow companies to adapt to infection control measures
- The situation in the pandemic was unpredictable throughout the year. Small and large workplace creators in the event and travel industries have had to live with strict infection control measures and travel restrictions for a long time, I am very happy to see that companies that create wealth and vibrant communities across the country are in full bloom. They are working hard to adapt to the situation with good and creative solutions, says Trade and Industry Minister Iselin Nybø.
The money went to restructuring projects that allow companies to adapt to infection control measures and market developments. The grant scheme will provide liquidity to future restructuring projects that an event and travel company would not be able to implement without the support.
NOK 400 million for various restructuring projects. The program is very popular because it is money that can help companies
In the summer of 2020, the government established a subsidy program of NOK 250 million to go to restructuring projects in the tourism industry. In this round, about 250 companies had the opportunity to implement their projects. Due to the high demand, the government allocated funds for the continuation of the program.
- The program is very popular. This money could help companies maintain more jobs in the future, says Nybø.
Support was also given to projects such as staff training, competence development and training in infection control principles
The deadline for submitting applications for the second competition with a budget of NOK 600 million was January 2021. 643 applications were submitted companies for a total amount of NOK 893 million. So far, approximately NOK 420 million has been allocated to 400 companies. Grants are awarded for changing forms of distribution or adaptation of tourism products to other customer groups, for example from products adapted to foreign markets to Norway and local markets, and for sending Norwegian tourists to tourist destinations in Norway instead of sending them abroad. Support was also given to projects that contribute to infection control measures. These are projects such as personnel training, competence development and training in infection control principles, environmental certification.
