The vaccinated will not have to be quarantined in the hotel.

Health Minister Bent Høie called for a press conference to be organized on the covid situation in Norway.

24 new cases of infection were registered in Norway in the last 460 hours. That's 51 less than the same day last week. 140 of these cases of infection were recorded in Oslo, where there is now a major Russ outbreak.

On Wednesday afternoon, the government led by Health Minister Bent Høie called a new press conference to inform about the infection situation. Also present are Health Director Bjørn Guldvog and Head of Department at FHI Line Vold.

The vaccinated will not have to be quarantined in the hotel

- Fully vaccinated individuals may be released from quarantined hotels. Health Minister Bent Høie says a verifiable coronavirus certificate will be ready next week.

People who have been vaccinated in Norway and can present digital documentation will be released from quarantined hotels from Thursday. This also applies to people who have had COVID-19 in the last six months. According to Høie, the change also affects those who received one dose, but only three weeks after it was given.

Certificate ready on June 11.

In addition, Health and Welfare Minister Høie spoke of the debate surrounding fully vaccinated people being placed in quarantine hotels.

- Given that the Storting will adopt a legal basis, on June 11, and only then will we have a verifiable certificate.

The certificate will have two versions. A simple and more elaborate version, says Høie.

The vaccinated will not have to be quarantined in the hotel. A temporary solution

Until then, an interim solution will be approved. Then, the fully vaccinated must be able to refer to the documentation on the HelseNorge website that shows that they have been fully vaccinated or have had the coronavirus in the last six months.

They will then be able to observe the quarantine period at home.

Although the solutions will be applied, the Minister of Health recommends planning a holiday in Norway.

"If you want the most predictable summer possible, it's safest to plan a vacation in the country," says Høie.

However, the change to the temporary rules does not apply to Norwegians who have been vaccinated abroad.

The temporary program will enter into force on June 3 at 12.00:XNUMX.

– What is the professional basis to fully vaccinated people were at home quarantine?

- This is a recommendation from the Norwegian Health Directorate and NIPH that it is too early to lift the entry quarantine for vaccinated people. Changes can be applied and that can happen relatively quickly, says Høie

- We must not make a mistake

Health Director Bjørn Guldvog took the opportunity to remind people that the pandemic is not over yet.

- We cannot go wrong and lose everything when we are so close to success. We have examples where the infection spreads rapidly, for example in Hammerfest and Trondheim. We do not want to be in this situation in many places in the country. We must do our best to avoid this. We don't want to close the country again, says the health director.

Moreover, Guldvog said we can only remove the 1 meter distance rule if we have achieved a vaccination rate of 70 percent and the R-number is well below 1.

- optimistic indicators

The department director at FHI Line Vold says the infection in Norway is gradually declining. In the last week, the infection dropped by 30%.

- These are satisfactory indicators, says Vold.

Several cities are experiencing local outbreaks, and the department director emphasizes that this may also happen in the future.

After a long spell of infection in the capital, the infection has risen in the last 24 hours. This is due to a serious russa epidemic

"There are many close contacts and infection rates are expected to increase," says Vold. The Alpha variant (formerly known as the British variant) is still dominant in Norway.

Vaccinations

- Now more vaccines are coming to the country, which means that vaccinations will accelerate in all municipalities. We asked the Norwegian Directorate of Health, NIPH and the government to investigate what challenges municipalities want and how we can help them, says Høie.

The answer is uplifting, she emphasizes.

- Many municipalities have already taken measures to ensure that vaccinations are carried out this summer, says Høie.

Several municipalities brought in students and retired health workers, among others, to ensure vaccinations this summer.

- I know that many municipalities were disappointed with the redistribution and its consequences. That's why I'm impressed. Thanks to everyone who is doing this important work in the municipalities, says Høie.
