Anita Włodarczyk won the silver medal during the 2012 Olympics in London. She lost then to Tatiana Łysenko, who threw the hammer to a distance of 78,18 meters. The Polish woman obtained a result of 77,60 meters in the best attempt, as a result of which she was awarded a silver medal.

After examining the samples taken during anti-doping tests, it turned out that the presence of a forbidden substance - turinabol was detected in the body of Tatiana Łysenko. The International Olympic Committee (abbreviated as IOC) disqualified the Russian woman in October 2016. However, the official decision to relocate the places was made only yesterday, and the PKOI immediately informed Anita Włodarczyk about it, who shared her happiness on Twitter.

The medal will be presented upon agreement
PKOI spokesman - Henryk Urbaś - emphasized that the Olympic gold medal would be awarded to Anica Włodarczyk after agreeing a suitable place and date between the interested party and the International Olympic Committee. According to the information provided by the Polish Athletics Association, four occasions are taken into account. This could happen at the Youth Olympics in Buenos Aires or the Tokyo Olympics in 2020. The gold medal may also be presented at the Olympic Museum in Lausanne.
