Gas and oil industry. It is known for a long time that Norway was and still is a "big winner" in this field. The Norwegian economy has always climbed to the top thanks to the continuous development of these two spaces. Despite the current problems: rising oil prices, oil production in other markets, weakening crown - Norway is still struggling. It was the oil and gas industry that made Norway a rich country.
Oil and gas industry - we have built a society of prosperity
Without oil revenues, Norway would never become one of the richest countries in Europe. Currently we are dealing with a very serious economic crisis - specialists, however, are constantly trying to fight this problem. There is no other industry that could generate profits on a really similar level. According to the latest analyzes, every fifth crown in the state budget comes from the oil industry. In 2019, profits from this area amounted to 263 billion crowns.

Could Norway be a rich country without oil?
Analysts, oil industry specialists and Norwegian society are asking themselves this question: can Norway be a rich country without oil? As it turns out, probably not. Unfortunately, no one notices this very important aspect in election campaigns. In 2017, Norwegian municipalities received CZK 42,7 billion originating from the oil industry. These were amounts coming from the budget and directly from taxes on people working in the oil industry. Even municipalities that do not operate so strongly in this industry benefit from transfers from the oil fund.
Limiting the gas and oil industry in Norway? This is a "shot in the knee for the country"!
Let's be clear. Limiting the gas and oil industry in Norway? This is not a good idea. Global greenhouse gas emissions will increase then significantly. The Norwegian mining industry emits an average of 50 percent less CO2 than the global average. Gas also causes many of us to give up thermal insulation with coal. We must also not forget that the unemployment rate would increase to the level of 225.000 unemployed.
