. The chief infection control officer stops short of saying new measures will be introduced this week, but says anything can happen. – There is nothing that is not up for discussion now, says Egil Bovim.
On Tuesday in Bergen over last 24 hours recorded 103 new people infected with the crown . There are 27 more of them than the day before, and the infection in the commune has been growing steadily recently.
Today at 15.30, Bergen Municipality will meet with NIPH to discuss the need for new measures.
- My message is that we take this situation seriously and are working on it. We're not standing still, says infection control chief Egil Bovim.
The R number is now 1,4 in the parish. After a summer with a low infection rate, the number of people positive for the coronavirus rose sharply. The school week will start next week.
All measures are discussed
Bovim confirms that one of the measures in question is the requirements for masks in public transport. The same goes for a home office recommendation.
- What about a further reduction of visitors in private homes?
- There is nothing that is out of the question now. I can't say more, says the chief infection control officer.
- It is true that fewer people are seriously ill, but some unfortunately suffer. In addition, we are dealing with the "long covid" factor, i.e. long-term effects of the disease, which, unfortunately, are observed in all age groups. These two things mean that action needs to be put in place.
For those tired of restrictions. This is the challenge
However, the chief infection control specialist sees one major challenge in a possible tightening of restrictions - that people are too tired to follow the rules.
- This is the challenge to find measures that are understandable, targeted, feasible and effective. I am also tired of the measures, so I understand well what people feel - he says and adds:
"The light in the tunnel is that we vaccinate and has nothing to say beyond that, the rules of infection control unfortunately apply until we get rid of it."
