Testing can replace student quarantine. Students are entitled to home schooling

It is important that children and young people stay at school as much as possible. Schools may operate on a green level, unless local health authorities decide that there should, for example, be a yellow level of action. This is true for areas with a lot of infection. The yellow level cannot be used as a preventive measure.

At the green level, everyday school life can be almost normal and there is no need to organize into groups. There will still be some infection control measures in place:

  • No sick person should go to school, even with mild symptoms.
  • If possible, it's important to keep your distance.
  • Good hand hygiene

Schools must have a contingency plan in place to advance to yellow or red tiers

From August 16, 2021, tests can replace infection quarantine. This applies to persons under 18 years of age and students over 18 years of age in secondary school.

People over the age of 18 (both teachers, staff and pupils / students) may be exempt from the municipality.

If a person has been diagnosed with a corona, close contacts may be able to get tested instead of being quarantined. People with whom an infected person lives or other similar close contacts must be quarantined.

The local health authority is responsible for organizing the research and how it is carried out. School staff cannot conduct tests.

The municipality's infection detection team remains responsible for tracking infections and alerting close contacts.

Students are entitled to home schooling. The school must ensure sufficient continuity of education throughout the school year

Students who must stay at home due to illness, quarantine or are in a risk group, have the right to education in home. This also applies to the green level.

Students who are in quarantine, in isolation, or have mild respiratory symptoms and a feeling of illness would normally meet at school, but now have to stay home for infection control.

In cases of quarantine and isolation, students often have to stay at home for 10 days. Such absence is considered to be prolonged, and therefore the student must complete his / her studiesę at home. Schools should start this training as soon as possible and provide students with follow-up where possibleę plan with items at home.

If a student has to stay at home for less than a week due to illness or mild symptoms, the school is generally not required to conduct remote activities. If a student has to be home for more than a week or more than a week, the absence will be considered long-term and students will receive in-home training.

The school must pay particular attention to pupils with special needs and pupils who have several shorter periods of absence. The school must ensure sufficient continuity of education throughout the school year for all students to receive a proper education.

Students who are in home schooling will be treated as if they are in the current school

They have an obligation to participate in learning, whether it takes place at school or at home. Students who are in home schooling will be treated as if they were present at school. Absences should therefore not be registered.

Home education must be conducted in a way that gives students a good opportunity to be supported and continued throughout the school day. The school owner must ensure that learning is possible thanks to students having access to the necessary equipment and thanks to the teachers' ability to speak orally with students throughout the school day.

Learning at home may take the form of, among others:

  • Homework
  • Learning through educational platforms or by phone

The school owner is responsible for ensuring that the school is practicing in accordance with privacy laws.
