The Norwegian parliament is allocating NOK 1,75 billion to municipalities. This is to help compensate local businesses for the losses they have suffered from national or local infection control measures. Now the distribution of money to municipalities is ready.

Many companies are hit hard by the problems

Many businesses across the country are hard hit by the tougher infection control measures that were introduced in the new year. It is the municipalities that know the local business community best and know what's going on in the grass. This money will be distributed quickly and easily so that backbone companies can recover from the crisis. This is Linda Hofstad Helleland, Minister of the District and Digital Affairs.
Increased resources for municipalities are in addition to 250 million crowns, which the government allocated to support local businesses in December 2020.

The government provides municipalities with funds for compensation for enterprises

- Recently, many municipalities have experienced high infection pressure and strict infection control regulations. The government is now transferring funds to these municipalities to compensate local businesses that have been particularly hit, says Nikolai Astrup, Minister for Local Government and Modernization.

How is money transferred to municipalities?

- 500 million crowns goes to the municipalities of the number of unemployed people above the national average, on February 16, 2021, or to the municipalities covered by the enhanced infection control measures implemented in the new year. The amount is distributed depending on the number of unemployed in these municipalities.
NOK 500 million is distributed among the municipalities by population. All municipalities receive a minimum amount of NOK 250.
The remaining 750 million will be transferred to municipalities if the situation continues.

The ministry will disburse the funds as soon as possible within one payment.
