When is your child entitled to a nursery place?
- Children who are turning one year old January until August, they are entitled to a place from August.
- Children who complete their first year in September, October or November are entitled to a place in the month they turn one year old.
- If your child turns one year old in December, they are entitled to a place in kindergarten from August of the following year.
How are places in kindergartens allocated?
In kindergartens communal places in kindergartens are assigned according to the applicable admission criteria; priority and date of birth.
The oldest children are given a place first. In the event that two applicants for a place in a nursery in the same nursery are born on the same date, the date of submitting the application is decisive for placing on the waiting list. The list of applicants is divided into two parts, one for children under 3 years of age and the second one for children over 3 years of age.

What if you were assigned a nursery place that you didn't choose?
Then you can do one of two things:
- You can assume a place and find it at the same time get on the waiting list for other nurseries you have applied to.
- You can give up your place and be put on the waiting list for the kindergartens you are applying for.
What if you don't get a place in the kindergartens of your choice?
You will then be offered a place in another kindergarten.
