Truck driver with crane collided with a car in Flå last week. He was charged with manslaughter for negligence and violation of the Traffic Act. Three brothers died in the accident.
- We believe there is good reason to suspect a man of negligence and, consequently, homicide. Attorney Andrea Finckenhagen from the Southeast Police District informs NTB.
That's it NRK he was the first to mention the accusation.
The accident on the national road No. 7 in Gulsvik in Flå was reported on Monday at 22.21:20. Both vehicles pulled off the road and the car started to burn. The brothers Emad (18), Ibrahim (17) and Yahya Jamal Sirwil (XNUMX), who were in the car, lost their lives.
New facts
Earlier it was known that after the accident the police would confiscate the driving license of the truck driver.
"In order to have a driver's license revoked, we have to prosecute, and that's why we accused him of manslaughter," says Finckenhagen.
He doesn't want to go into what makes the police believe that a man living in Viken is responsible for the deaths of his brothers.
The man is also accused of violating Art. 3 of the Road Traffic Act, which means that you should drive with caution and be alert and careful in road traffic.
The man was questioned once after the accident, and a police lawyer says further questioning of the accused is advisable.
Truck driver accused of manslaughter. Incomprehension
The crane operator's defense attorney Christian Arnkværn tells NRK that the man does not understand the accusation.
"He doesn't agree that he could have done anything about the accident, which means he may have some sort of blame for what happened," says Arnkværn.
He claims that the police confiscated his driving license on the day of the accident.
- And he was formally charged in that sense. He was also questioned by the police the next day and nothing came to light in this interrogation that gave the impression that the police had something specific that would indicate that he should be complicit in the accident, says Arnkværn.
