The health service is committed to protecting patients and workers from the risk of infection, stresses the Norwegian Directorate of Health. If necessary, unvaccinated personnel can be moved. Management assumes that unvaccinated medical personnel pose a greater risk to patients.

- Where it is necessary to be able to offer reliable health services, there is a basis for the relocation of employees who do not want to vaccinate - writes the management.

List was sent to municipalities, provincial administrators and regional health funds to clarify the obligations and opportunities of the employer for workers who do not want to vaccinate. This applies to both the Covid-19 vaccination and the flu.

It is also possible to impose reinforced measures on unvaccinated workers who operate additional infection control equipment who are in close contact with susceptible patients if deemed necessary, the letter reads.

Workers who do not wish to declare their vaccination status should be considered unvaccinated.

Norwegian Health Board emphasizes that vaccinations are voluntary and no one should be forced to take the vaccine.

However, this does not mean that it is permissible to expose patients and others to the risk of infection at work.
