Both the number of people infected with COVID-19 and the number of hospitalized patients are on the rise, even among those who are fully vaccinated. However, that may soon change.
"We are looking at the TISK apparatus and how we can detect infections in vaccinated and unvaccinated, especially in households, where we see transmission of infection also to fully vaccinated people," says Deputy Health Director Espen Rostrup Nakstad.
TISK (test-isolation-infection-tracking-quarantine) is a term that describes the activities of the municipality in the field of infection tracking. These actions were lowered when the government opened the country on September 25. However, with increasing numbers of infections, changes can occur.
- Exactly how the changes will be implemented is not yet clear, says Nakstad.
Together with the Norwegian Institute Public Health Norwegian The Health Directorate is currently working on new recommendations and guidelines on who should be tested and how often.
Nakstad says it is helpful to read the quarantine advice and rules for unvaccinated sick relatives. Today, unvaccinated people can be tested daily and then released from quarantine.
Nakstad says it may be important for fully vaccinated people to get tested, not just when symptoms develop. According to the deputy director, if they live with someone with COVID-19, there is a fairly high risk of infection.
24 corona infections were registered in Norway in the last 1532 hours. This is 197 more than on the same day last week. In the last seven days, an average of 1396 corona infections per day were recorded.
290 infected persons registered in the last 24 hours are registered in Oslo. There are ten more of them than on the same day last week.
