Temporary arming of the police throughout the country

Until the situation in Bislett Oslo was resolved, the Police Directorate ordered temporary rearmament of the police throughout the country.

- The role of the Police Directorate is to evaluate and implement measures ensuring good preparation and conduct throughout the country.

The Oslo Police District is dealing with the specific incident and investigating the case. The Norwegian Police Directorate is closely monitoring the situation and constantly assessing how the incident affects the preparedness and efforts of the police. The police currently have no specific indications that there has been a change in the level of threat in the country.

- The role of the Police Directorate is to evaluate and implement measures ensuring good preparation and conduct throughout the country. All police districts in the country have been made aware of the situation and are temporarily armed to increase police readiness and response, says Police Director Benedicte Bjørnland.

The Norwegian Police Directorate will return with additional information should the situation change.
