Based on last week's meetings, group leaders who needed more time to explain who they would point to as city council leader set a deadline for Monday to make their views known.

Unresolved situation around the new Bergen city council

- In the talks last week and on Monday, several parties signaled their position. Overall, however, the parliamentary basis of the new city council is still unclear, says Mayor Rune Bakervik.

"It is therefore unclear who I will designate as mayor in order to start the search and negotiations for the creation of a new city council," continues Bakervik.

I give the parties more time to explain

On this basis, as mayor, I feel it is right to take a little more time to explain. I want an explanation as soon as possible, no later than the end of the week, says Bakervik.
