A man in his thirties was sentenced to five and a half years in prison for defrauding Nav for 9,9 million crowns.

When a hearing was held in the Oslo District Court in the fall, the man pleaded guilty. He cheated 9,9 million kronor in compensation for the crisis in the pandemic from Nav, writes Avisa Oslo.

The police found the case in the summer of 2020, when a meeting with Nav received a warning that there were "strong indications" that the terms and conditions of employment in companies for which covid support was applied for were not being met.

The 35-year-old was arrested. He is currently in Ullersmo Prison.

Oslo District Court believes the man benefited from a trust-based support program. The aid was provided in connection with the coronavirus pandemic. The authorities had to rely on the information that the complainant had provided to Nav.

“In order to commit the crime, the accused obtained social security number for a large number of people. He entered his identity in the employee register and then applied for compensation for several companies," we read in the judgment of the District Court in Oslo.

The man was sentenced to five and a half years in prison.
