40 million of a pool of 200 million kronor to strengthen the local police presence will go to fight crime gangs in Oslo.
This is what the Minister of Justice, Emilie Enger Mehl (Sp) says to VG .
- I want to announce a clear and solid fight against gang crime in Oslo. We cannot allow shootings in the street or that young people be recruited into criminal circles, he says.
In early November, the government provided NOK 200 million to strengthen the local police presence across the country.
Of this pool, the Minister of Justice now allocates NOK 40 million to Oslo.
Among the measures to be implemented are a gang criminals program, targeted measures against gang crime, the strengthening of local initiatives in Oslo, increased gun control and an amnesty that allows for the handover of illegal weapons to the police with impunity.
