The 2019 Norwegian elections to local authorities, municipalities and districts are behind us. Political analysts and sociologists are closely watching the results, trends and all changes taking place on the Norwegian political scene - both regionally (in individual cities and municipalities) and nationally. It cannot be denied that the latest opinion polls give a feeling that the Norwegian political scene will be "turned slightly upside down". The political landscape is changing - to a more liberal one, turned to the left.

The 2019 elections in Norway are greener and more leftist

According to election analyst Peter Egge Langsæther of NTNU (Norwegian University of Science and Technology), these elections will be marked by the Green Party and the radical left. This is in line with the results in other countries - all over Europe, left-wing parties are coming to the fore.

“In Norway and Scandinavia, the social democratic parties have done fairly well compared to sister parties elsewhere in Europe. But here you can also see the trends in the development of the political situation that can be observed in Europe. " says election researcher Johannes Bergh of the Institute for Social Research for Nettavisen.

A big surprise is the good election result for the Green Party, which raises issues important to Norwegians in its program road tolls and the climate problem. These aspects caused the party to gain considerable recognition.

“MGD is the purest voice in true climate policy. We are not afraid to face difficult choices. We are doing everything we can to make the necessary changes to protect the climate here and now. Like others, we do not stop at setting goals for the distant future. ”Says Berg in an interview with Nettavisen.
