The reason is a significant drop in passenger numbers after the government introduced new national measures and demanded limited social contact. Color Line informs in a press release.
"The decision entails the dismissal of nearly 100 employees," says CEO Trond Kleivdal.
- This is very hard news for our employees, who were also hit hard by the pandemic before.
He says the company now hopes that the government will soon introduce specific programs, such as wage compensation, that actually compensate for the effects of the government's actions.
"It will be able to keep our employees safe during the Christmas season and until we are able to normalize it permanently," says Kleivdal.
From Monday, the Color Viking ferry will be temporarily decommissioned. Thereby, the offer of Sandefjord - Strømstad will be halved.
