. Both at Oslo University Hospital (OUS) and Akershus University Hospital (Ahus).
Last week, the mean response time in OUS was 28 hours, an increase from 19 hours a week earlier, reports VG.
Fredrik Müller, head of the microbiology department at the hospital, explains the increase in response time by a significant increase in the number of samples. In addition, it takes a long time to check positive samples for omicron or delta variants.
At OUS, they analyze samples from Kristiansand, Tønsberg, Larvik and Sandefjord in addition to the samples from Oslo.
Coronavirus PCR tests
At Ahus, the response time for normal samples is now up to three days after receipt by the laboratory. Individual samples may have a response time of up to four days if there is a need for alternative analysis.
Norway's largest private medical laboratory, Fürst, says it is still able to provide a test result within 24 hours of receiving the sample
