More than 300 applications were received after the headmaster of the school and kindergarten went out to the media and encouraged them to apply for temporary positions in schools and kindergartens. Efforts are currently being made to send candidates to schools and kindergartens.
We hope that we have contributed to this as well writing about this difficult situation in Wataha.no
- We're a little overwhelmed by the answer. On the same day that the case appeared in the media, applications began to flow in. The number has grown steadily since then, says Organization and Negotiation Advisor Janne Halseth.
Please be patient
In mid-December schools and kindergartens were asked to estimate how many replacements they would need in the period from January to April 2022. When applications arrive at the municipality, Halseth and his colleagues sit down and review all applications. They then distribute them to schools and kindergartens, based on needs, competences and availability. In the next stage, schools contact suitable candidates and arrange an interview. Ten deputies have been hired so far.
- It may sound modest, but it will be a completely normal recruiting process. Applicants will have to go through interviews, check references and obtain a valid police certificate. So it will take some time, says Halseth.
- Have some patience. We work hard, but it may be a long time for those who have made the application to hear, says Halseth.
Maybe a little more relaxation on Christmas?
The one who has already hired several deputies is the school principal at Godeset, Henning Furu Verstegen. She says the process of sending applicants and then making further contacts yourself worked well. He has already hired three deputies for the school and SFO.
- In the case of the Godeset school, this means that after the fall, when there were difficulties due to the huge absence, we can "get back on our feet" again. I hope these replacements will help us provide the children with the education and care they are entitled and need, says Verstegen.
Pensioners can work without losing their pension
Before Christmas, the Ministry of Labor and Social Affairs decided that pensioners with a state pension can now work in schools and kindergartens without losing their pension.
These pensioners may be employed on the special pension of the retiree without any reduction in the AFP, special pension or retirement pension. The special rate of the pensioners' salary was set at NOK 300 per hour worked.
Impressed with the commitment
School Principal Jørn Pedersen and Kindergarten Principal Monica Buvig Stenseth are extremely pleased with the good response.
- I think that many directors and business leaders breathed a sigh of relief. Many are incredibly concerned about how to make Staff Solitaire work. I just have to praise the inhabitants of the commune once again. We saw it at the start of the pandemic and now we are seeing it again. People from this commune appear. It's absolutely fantastic, says Pedersen.
A similar difficult situation HR due to the pandemic occurs throughout Norway.
