Most Norwegian cities will decide for themselves whether it is appropriate to ban alcohol in bars.

- It may as well be a national framework, but if stricter bar rules are to apply. They should definitely be based on local considerations about infection control and the infection situation. Speaks CEO Gunn Marit Helgesen in KS to NRK.

The nationwide network of the KS, which they consist of. Oslo, Bergen, Trondheim, Stavanger, Kristiansand, Tromsø, Bærum and Drammen had a digital meeting on Friday. The meeting was also attended by the Minister of Trade and Industry Jan Christian Vestre (Labor Party). And Secretary of State Ole Kristian Bjørkholt (Labor Party) in the Ministry of Health.

In addition to preferring to opt for local rules, large cities, according to NRK, will introduce a covid passport allowing access to cultural life and restaurants.

Network leader Kristiansand Mayor Jan Oddvar Skisland (Labor) tells VG that one of the wishes mentioned was the lifting of the timeframe ban instead of a total ban.

The mayor of Bærum, Lisbeth Hammer Krog (H), wants a relief.

"Of course, we must continue with infection control measures, but they should be strict, non-prohibitive." For people to endorse the rules, measures need to be assessed on a regular basis. I think this has probably been missing from the government in recent days, the newspaper says.
