The government is proposing NOK 1,5 billion in additional support to hospitals. 
The government will provide hospitals with an additional financial package of NOK 1,5 billion to maintain working capacity during the pandemic.
The Minister of Health and Welfare Ingvild Kjerkol (Labor Party) announced this in a speech at the hospital on Tuesday.
"Our intention is to ensure that hospitals are able to withstand the pandemic this winter," he says.
The funds will cover higher costs as a result of increased levels of preparedness and infection control measures. They will also cover the increased costs of overtime and employment due to absences and quarantine among employees.
This in turn will help ease the restrictions, according to Kjerkol.
– If we do not prepare clear and flexible plans in 2022, we will be faced again at the end of the year difficult choices due to to capacity pressure in the health service. We need to better equip health services now to reduce the need for new infection control measures this autumn, he says.
