Trondheim does the same as other big cities and now ensures schools and kindergartens have a supply of iodine tablets.
Later this week, Trondheim will receive 100 tablets. The tablets are intended to be stored in equipment and will only be distributed when instructed by the authorities in the event of an incident where there is a risk of radiation and fallout.
Good monitoring
Norway has its own warning and monitoring systems that will detect radioactive contamination in the air over Norway.
The Radiological Protection and Nuclear Safety Directorate writes about its websitethat the possible release of radioactive substances in Ukraine does not force Norwegians to take iodine tablets. Then, it may be important to implement other measures to protect the population instead.
