AiRMOUR is a three-year EU project in which we will study the use of drones and fly drones in urban and suburban areas for medical rescue purposes. Stavanger has been selected as the test arena and the first drones are due to fly in the city in 2022.

Drones in emergency medical services

- The Municipality of Stavanger wants to take an active part in the development we know is coming , in the use of drones. We hope this project will give us knowledge and experience  for the future, says project manager Terje Rygh from the smart city department.

During the project, we will involve residents to  learn more about their thoughts on using drones. We will also create e-courses and tools for urban planners, drone operators and others.

We need your help - take part in our survey

It's important for us to understand what you think about using drones in and around Stavanger to improve emergency medical services. So we invite you to take part in this poll here .

Questions should be answered within ten minutes. If you want, you can join the panel that will advise us in our work, simply take part in the survey.

Stavanger has been selected as the test arena

If all goes to plan, the first drones will be flying over Stavanger in 2023. As part of the project, Ehang Scandinavia will fly drones.

Broad partnership

The project is coordinated by VTT in Finland. The consortium consists of cities from six countries: Germany, Finland, Norway, Sweden, Luxembourg and the Netherlands. The consortium has 13 partners, including research institutions, aviation authorities and emergency services. See all partners on official website of the EU project .

The project's drone operator, EHANG Scandinavia AS, is in close contact with Avinor and the Norwegian Civil Aviation Authority. Both are important national partners for further work with the certifications and necessary permits to fly.

Within the Municipality of Stavanger, several departments are also involved in the project. Health and social care, emergency planning, digital maps and services, innovation and digitization, smart city, and urban and social planning contribute to this. They have a variety of roles such as clarifying needs, insight work, and facilitation.
