Before you come to the emergency room, call first.
, where residents must call first. This is intended to reduce queues and provide quick help to those most in need.
Everyone in Bergen now has to call an ambulance on the number 116117when they need immediate ambulance assistance. This applies to both the main emergency room in the city center and emergency stands in the neighborhoods.
When you call on the number 116117, the ambulance service will give you medical advice over the phone and assess whether you need urgent help. If you are seriously ill, you are asked to come to the emergency room and you have time to report.
Those who need quick help should wait as short as possible
- This is a program that has proved successful in other cities. An ambulance service can help more people in the home and give good advice over the phone. Also, make the offer more predictable for those who will be asked to come to the emergency room. The goal is for the emergency room nurse to see patients arriving within a quarter of an hour, says health councilor Beate Husa.
We will help you avoid unnecessarily long waiting
- The most important thing is that those who need urgent help should wait as short as possible, says admission manager Anne Karoline Tyssøy Pedersen.
- Some people will be offered to come to us in a few hours, when we take care of patients who need help more. We probably can't completely remove the waiting time, but we will help to avoid unnecessarily long waits, says Tyssøy Pedersen.
The emergency service now strengthens the capabilities of the telephone service at certain times of the day.
For many, it will be enough to get an explanation over the phone with the nurse. We recently started with extensive consultations that give us a better basis for assessing patients, and this contributes to the quality of our medical advice, says Tyssøy Pedersen.
