The framework plan corresponds to the curriculum of primary and lower secondary schools. It is to contribute to a more even offer between SFO offers across the country.

– We want a stronger community school where all students participate and learn. We then need to ensure that SFO has good content across the country, that the offer is cheaper and that more people can benefit from it. I am therefore pleased that the framework plan will contribute to assessing them work by employees and SFO and will change the way they work. This will give children a good deal, says Education Minister Tonje Brenna.

Focus on competences

Previous studies show that every fourth SFO employee has never received any form of competency development. The report also shows that many employees identify competency as an important factor for good work.

- The competences of employees are the most important factor of a good-quality SFO offer. We have skilled workers willing to give children a good deal. That is why we allocated NOK 10 million in the state budget for the development of competency offers for SFO - says Brenna.

New framework plan and quality improvement in SFO

The government has ambitions to both improve the quality and lower the price of the extra-curricular activities program.

In the fall, the government will make SFO more accessible to all children. It is a priority to give all first-graders free SFO for 12 hours a week.
