– Germany is Norway's most important partner in Europe. We cooperate in the situation war in Ukraine and we continue to develop energy cooperation in the field of renewable energy. Thanks to cooperation, we can achieve common goals of ecological industrialization and lower emissions, says Prime Minister Jonas Gahr Støre.

- Russia's aggression towards Ukraine has changed the political security situation in Europe. Therefore, it is important to work closely with like-minded allies. Norway greatly appreciates the work that Germany is doing to help Ukraine and support European security. The united Nordic region in NATO also contributes to the security of Germany and Europe, says Støre.

The war in Ukraine, green transformation, energy and European cooperation are the main topics of the conversation with Scholz.

Energy cooperation

- For years, extensive energy cooperation has been carried out between Norway and Germany. We are now developing this collaboration further in areas such as hydrogen, carbon capture and storage, offshore wind energy, battery production and more. Here lies a long-term solution to Europe's energy and climate problems, says the Prime Minister.

If the green transition is to translate into action, it requires industrial solutions. For this reason, Prime Minister Støre and Chancellor Scholz agreed in January this year for regular meetings between Norway and Germany on energy and industrial restructuring. Several meetings have taken place since then. In March in Oslo, among others, Vice Chancellor Habeck, Prime Minister Støre, Industry Minister Vestre and Minister Oil and Energy Aasland. The dialogue continued through political meetings and contacts between Norwegian and German companies.

Norway has good preconditions to succeed in creating green value, especially because of its important resources and expertise in the energy, offshore and maritime sectors, which are key areas for green transition in EU countries, says Støre.
