The European Commission is proposing new emission regulations for cars and other vehicles. This should lead to a sharp reduction in pollution on Europe's roads in the coming years.
The proposal is called Euro7 and will contribute to a 35% reduction in nitrogen oxide (NOx) emissions. In the case of passenger cars and more than 50 percent. for buses and trucks by 2035

Euro7 also contains regulations on the emission of microplastics and other microparticles. They are emitted, among others, from car brakes and tires, as well as from exhaust pipes.
Under the proposal, the new rules will apply to new cars from 2025.
The proposal comes after EU countries agreed in October to ban the sale of combustion engine vehicles from 2035.
New charging requirements
Recently, the European Commission also presented new requirements for electric cars and charging. One of the most important points is that it will be easier to pay at charging stations in Europe.
Card payments will become a requirement, but so will e-roaming, which means that companies' charging apps can be used at different charging stations.
There will also be requirements regarding the distance between charging stations.
The European Parliament writes on its website that from 2026 there must be at least one charging station per 60 kilometers of main roads in Europe. This puts pressure on EU countries. By 2024, they are to present their plans, whether they have met the requirements or how they will deal with it.
