The aircraft carrier currently has its home base in Portsmouth, England. Since November 10, he has been on missions as part of the British operation "Operation Achillean", including in the North Sea. The visit to Oslo takes place in this context.

Norway and the UK have a long and good tradition of defense cooperation. The UK is a key NATO member and an important actor in military and security policy with which Norway cooperates to varying degrees.

Although this is the ship's first visit to Norway, the Norwegian armed forces have several common ground with the British.

The Norwegian and British armed forces also have several of the same capabilities, which enables us to share information and train together. Already last week, Norwegian F-35s trained together with a British aircraft carrier during exercises.

During the ship's visit to Oslo, several meetings and talks on further cooperation will take place. As part of the visit to Oslo, two frigates, a destroyer and a supply ship also arrive.

HMS Queen Elizabeth will stay at Søndre Akershuskai in Oslo during her stay. The ship will not be open to the public, but will be highly visible in the Oslo harbor basin.
