In the autumn of last year, the Ministry of Transport sent a proposal to increase the rates for traffic offenses by 30 percent for consultations. There were those who spoke out against the proposal, including the police. Now, however, the increase has been approved and has entered into force.
The last change in fine rates for traffic offenses took place on March 1 last year.

Of course, we all want it to be safe on the roads. However, is such a high increase in fines for traffic offenses in the era of expensive fuel electricity and rising prices in stores is it justified?
Traffic offenses for which you can be punished with a simplified fine
a. up to 5 km/h NOK 1100
b. up to 10 km/h NOK 3000
c. up to 15 km/h NOK 5400
d. up to 20 km/h NOK 7800
e. up to 25 km/h NOK 12
– when the local speed limit is 70 km/h or more and the speed limit is
j. up to 5 km/h 1100 NOK
k. up to 10 km/h NOK 3000
l. up to 15 km/h 4800 NOK
m. up to 20 km/h NOK 6700
n. up to 25 km/h NOK 9100
o. up to 30 km/h NOK 12
p. up to 35 km/h NOK 14
– when the speed limit on the motorway is 90 km/h or more and the speed limit is
q. 36 km/h up to and including 40 km/h NOK 15
