Over the past year, 7216 participants took the citizenship test, of whom 91 percent passed. The test is one of several steps on the way to obtaining citizenship in Norway.
- It is gratifying that so many pass this test. I know that for many this is an important step on the road to Norwegian citizenship, says Employment and Integration Minister Marte Mjøs Persen.

The number of test takers is consistently high. Rogaland and Oslo have the highest percentage.
The test consists of 32 scoring questions, of which participants must answer at least 24 correctly in order to pass.
- National performance remains consistently good, says Sveinung Skule, director of the Directorate for Higher Education and Skills. The Directorate develops the test on behalf of the Ministry of Employment and Social Inclusion.
A reviewer of social science knowledge for adult immigrants
It was the Storting who decided that the citizenship test was a knowledge test based on the social science training program for immigrant adults. The test does not measure the degree of integration of candidates.
